The Agony and the Ecstasy of Being Agile when the Schedule is not
Eighteen months ago in Ireland, Johnson Controls launched an accelerator program to incubate a new business unit within their organisation. Using lean and agile principles, a security platform for smart buildings has emerged from combining Internet of Things sensor data with machine learning insights.
In this session I’ll share my experiences managing rapid organisational growth while maintaining our team’s strong winning culture. We’ve taken a human-centred, safe-to-fail approach to creating an experience that has enabled us to become a leader in the market. We’ve continuously improved and adapted, stumbled and picked ourselves back up again, refactored our teams and maintained ‘just enough process’ to scale autonomously without adopting a religiously agile framework. All this while driving to a drop-dead customer date.
